Portland

This weekend we drove down to Portland for a baby shower for Jim's sister (JT and Haley's new cousin is due August 5th!). After the shower, we went to a park and played in the sunshine.

Seriously. She loves it!
Haley kept crawling up the slide and falling backwards down it. She was determined to get it.

The MAX train went by the park every fifteen minutes or so. A few times Jim took JT and Haley to the fence to watch. Once the engineer blew the whistle at them!

Racing back from the fence..

The next day we went to the Oregon Zoo. I have wanted to go there for awhile because they have animals that our zoos do not have. JT has been asking to see crocodiles and we just don't have them. I had a great time trying out the aperture mode on my camera and many times I could get better lighting and color than auto mode, which was very exciting. I love the zoo and took lots of pictures of animals.

There's one!

Haley was interested in the animals: "See too?"

My favorite, as always, was the elephants. There are four female Asian elephants in this area. One of the younger elephants was playing with a metal ball hanging from a fence. It was completely fascinating!

The lions were out lying in the sun. It looked like a great way to spend the afternoon!

JT was a little wary of brushing the pygmy goats.

The crocodile made JT a little nervous. Its big snout and teeth were pretty close up, even behind glass. He felt better standing back a bit.

And my favorite picture... on the way to brush the goats. I call it "The zoo with my two."

We're Moving!

Less than two months ago, we were leaving my parents' house in Port Orchard to go ski and Jim joked, "Hey, we could move to that house," as he pointed to the house across the street. We have joked about moving back to Port Orchard after 18 years away for quite some time, because most of our family lives there and our favorite ski lake is there. We've never been serious. Then we found out that the house was going to be for sale, but hadn't been listed yet, so it was kind of for sale by owner. So we toured the house and... we loved it. Then we found out that we could possibly sell our house for enough to make sense financially. So we made the owners of the Port Orchard house an offer and... they accepted. Then we spent a week making our house ready to sell before we left for ten days of camping. So we listed our house while we were gone and... it sold. We looked at each other and said, "Are we really moving to Port Orchard?" Because we really, really ...

Our little arrival!

We are pleased to announce the arrival of JT (John Taylor) Keene, born at 1:13 AM on Tuesday, July 15th. He was 8 pounds, 8 ounces and 21 inches long. Everyone is happy and healthy!

34 Weeks

We had our 34-week baby checkup yesterday and all is well. Five weeks to go! I spent the entire time at Banks Lake in a bikini because it was too hot for modesty. :) My sister-in-law took this picture to document Haley's "first trip" to Banks Lake. A few weeks ago I took one afternoon to do a canvas painting for Haley's room to match her cute Pottery Barn valance and bedding. In the picture, the valance is above and my painting is below. I can't wait to hang it up in her room! I ordered the crib yesterday and it should arrive next week.
