Great West Gym Fest

Three days after we got back from Utah, we drove to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho for Haley's competition called Great West Gym Fest. We were blessed to stay with my cousin, Cora, and her two kids with my aunt and uncle right next door. We enjoyed Tubbs Hill Park and a two-mile walk on Saturday morning. We had lunch at a German brewhouse in town that Cora suggested. It's like Belgium will never end - more beer and frites. Jim and I decided to give up on February and start fresh again in March! In the afternoon, we enjoyed some quiet time relaxing at home before the big day. On Sunday, Haley competed in the morning. We were at the resort on time and ready to go! Our CDA family came to watch Haley compete, and JT led the "how to watch gymnastics" lessons for Magnus and Heidi. The awards ceremony was unbelievingly long. Instead of calling maybe four or five places out for all around for each division (7 ...

Sports Weekend

We spent four straight days out of the house at sporting events. We are tired! Friday last week, we went to Haley's gymnastics meet in Kent. She did an awesome job and took 5th in her division! Then we spent two days at basketball in Buckley. Jim is the team's assistant coach now, and he enjoyed being on the floor with the boys! Finally, we took Monday off school/work and headed to the mountains. Haley stayed home sick with Grandma Keene, but the rest of us enjoyed sunny skies and rocky snow. We need a little more cover before the skiing can really begin! First run of the year... wiped us out!

PJ Classic 2019

Haley did an amazing job at her second gymnastics meet, the PJ Classic in Auburn. She improved a ton from her first meet and most importantly had a wonderful time! Her team wore matching pajama pants... so cute! We had a full audience for this meet, which was super fun. She got 4th in her division!! We were so excited for her hard work to be blessed with placing at the event. Her team got 2nd place at the meet, and they were thrilled to earn a trophy for their gym. Our very special audience for this meet included four grandparents and one great-grandma visiting from Portland! After the meet, Haley and I met some of her teammates at MOD Pizza for lunch, and then we went to Bellevue to get her ski fitting done for her rentals. And then... we were tired and hungry and had to stop at Mercury Coffee so we could enjoy the hour drive home. It was Haley's first time at Mercury. She was impressed with the size of the cookies! Last little gymnastics update: H...

Team Sports Fall 2019

Our kids are allowed to pick one sport per season. We all know what Haley's sport is... for all the seasons. :) She's a team girl! JT is playing flag football again this fall. He enjoys playing quarterback, wide receiver, and safety.

Team Gymnast

She did it! Haley is now a Team Gymnast. Not that we are surprised by this at all... but it's very exciting. Three years ago, Haley joined her gym as a level 1 gymnast, one hour, one day a week. She loved it. She decided she wanted to pursue being a Team Girl. When she moved up to level 2, she started going two days a week for an hour each. She noticed that other girls were staying longer, and she wanted to as well. She worked hard and practiced at home and moved up to level 3, which was twice a week for an hour and a half. But that wasn't enough for her! We got her a bar for Christmas and she asked for private lessons (which we've only done once). She refused to take a season off for another sport and never, ever wants to miss for family vacations or other events. So Haley moved up to level 4 and started going twice a week for two hours. Team tryouts rolled around on June 8, and we knew she wanted to try out. The coaches tell the girls that many times they won't ...

Mini Olympics 2019

Haley finished up her third year of gymnastics with the traditional mini-Olympics. We loved watching each of her events and cheering for her, and we especially loved gathering at Menchie's frozen yogurt afterward!
