Sleepy Head

This morning Jim worked an early shift, so I didn't get up with him to make breakfast (I don't cook before 6 AM). I didn't set an alarm, because I figured JT would wake me up around 7:30 like usual. Instead of waking up to his gurgles through the monitor, I woke up to Slider "announcing" that the milk man was leaving our milk in the milk box... at 9 AM! I couldn't believe it. He slept from 10:30 PM to 9 AM without a noise. When I went in to check on him, he was just waking up - probably from Slider's barking - and was in a great mood. Needless to say, I was in a great mood too. I haven't slept that long in about a year! I have had several comments about my late posting this week... that's what I get for being so regimented and posting on the weekends. But we were busier than usual this weekend and I just didn't have time. Yesterday after church and lunch, we had a nice boat ride in the sunshine and Jim and I got to ski. Then we left JT to play ...

Three Months Old

JT turned three months old this week. He got the other half of his two-month shots and got weighed at his appointment. He weighs 14 pounds and is 25 1/2 inches long. We took some pictures at home to celebrate. My son has become very talkative. He makes noises and looks right at me with significant intent. I say, "Yes, JT?" and he makes more noises. It is pretty adorable. It is amazing how even small children can learn the art of conversation. JT has also started to grab things on purpose. He looks at the dangling fish on his play mat and then reaches to get them. He has become more interested in books lately, too. His favorite "book" is his family album. It is hard to believe, but he actually squirms and makes happy sounds when he sees the page with Jim's picture on it! We are on the waiting list for swim lessons with KinderSwimmer. Apparently the infant class is full, so as soon as there is a spot we can start. Meanwhile, JT enjoys bath time very much. This we...

Pictures Galore

I'm not sure what happened, but I have a whole stock pile of completely adorable pictures... so there are lots of them this week! We've been busy. A week and a half ago, we took our last sunny boat ride of the fall. Somehow those pictures didn't make it on here. JT enjoyed laying on the floor and watching his John Deere keys swing back and forth. He also enjoyed helping Jim drive the boat. :) JT got all geared up for Saturday football with daddy last week. Unfortunately, UW is having a horrible season. Luckily Alabama is having an awesome season, and we can't wait to watch them play Auburn in November. Maybe next week the two boys will wear Bama gear instead. Last Sunday we went to Salmon Days in Issaquah. JT stayed awake in his stroller for most of the time. Although he couldn't see the salmon, I told him all about it. I got to babysit Cole Skagen on Monday, so JT had a nice play date. They would stare across their toys and "talk" to each other; it was ...

Back to Work

This week I went back to work. I only work Thursdays and Fridays, so it's not quite the commitment as full time. Also, JT gets to stay home, snuggled in bed, when I leave for work. He wakes up to a full day of fun with either Dad or Grandma, so it's a pretty sweet deal. I love my job, and it was fun to drive home at the end of the day and get excited to see JT. I think he may have attempted to laugh for the first time this week. It sure sounded like a laugh, and he was smiling, but he only did it once. He has spent a lot of time recently smiling at everything and playing with his hands. He is becoming an expert at hitting the toys that dangle in front of him on his play mat, too. Last night I went to the Just Between Friends sale with my friend Jen. It was a zoo! We both got some great deals (clothes, toys, books), but had to wait in line for an hour and a half to pay for it all. Poor JT got pretty hungry and cranky stuck in the Bjorn, so I went and fed him while Jen held our...
