Camping and other updates

First up, vital stats update: JT weighs 12 pounds and is 23 inches long. So much for all of those cute newborn-size clothes, and we ditched the infant insert in the car seat. We kept saying all week that he just seemed bigger, and sure enough, he is! This was my 25th consecutive summer that included at least one trip to Banks Lake in eastern Washington... the eleventh for Jim, the second for Slider, and the first for JT! We were disappointed in the weather - rainy and cold - but had fun playing games and spending quality time with Grandpa and Grandma Cole in their warm trailer. We did get a little beach time, but JT stayed on the beach when Jim, Slider, and I went swimming in the 70 degree water (brr!). In front of Grand Coulee Dam Slider decided to spoon Jim in the tent... she gets to sleep on the air mattress with us, and one night she rolled off :) In front of "The Rock" JT enjoying the beach from inside his sun dome Our first Harley ride together since before I got preg...

Smiles

This week JT is five weeks old, and my brother is FORTY. (Happy birthday, Jeff!) Since Jim is back at work, I've had to put the other members of our household to work... here's JT helping with the laundry. Slider is in charge of supervising play time. Here she is watching JT have some tummy time. Okay, just kidding. But she does occasionally lay with her nose very close to JT and just watch him play. The other big news is that JT is starting to smile back! He has smiled at me at least once every day this week. I get a really big, cheesy grin after he's fed and is happy to stare at me. It's adorable, of course!

Back to Work & One Month

Two significant things happened today: Jim went back to work, and JT is one month old. He weighs 10 lbs 10 oz and is 22.5 inches long. That is a gain of 3 pounds since he left the hospital! We worked in a 1-month photo shoot once we got home from shopping... that's my little boy (oops, I mean big man)! We stayed cool in the hot weather and only went through two outfits today (countless diapers, but that's good, right?). I dangled a toy from his car seat handle while we did the grocery shopping. Since his vision has gotten better, he was really interested in it. Does anyone else notice the resemblance? :) Soooo many people have commented that he looks just like Jim: our families, friends, and even the lady that cuts Jim's hair.

Quarantined

Jim is sick! His temperature is over 102 degrees, so the nurse at his doctor's office told us that he can't have any contact with JT until his temperature is normal for 24 hours. Bummer! Fortunately, we had very few weekend plans, and Jim can take a few days to rest, recover, and get back in Daddy-mode by Monday. We're praying that JT doesn't catch whatever he has. At JT's weigh-in today, he was 10 lbs 3 oz. The nurse said I must be giving him whipping cream! Meanwhile, we had a busy week: playing at the lake, walks in the park, eating s'mores, and more. Okay, so JT didn't get any s'mores... but I did! This last picture is one of the few times my son will be able to stick his tongue out at me without getting busted... he's just too cute to spank! :)

More Adventures

This week was pretty busy for us. With my two-week recovery time over, we've been able to get out of the house more often. JT now weighs over 9 lbs and measures 21.5 inches long. He got to meet another great-grandma this week, and several aunts and uncles. We visited Jim's work on Monday and my office on Wednesday. JT is starting to sleep a solid chunk of time at night; recently, he eats at 10 PM, between 2 and 3 AM, and again at 7 AM. That means a good amount of sleep time for us! This week's firsts: First bath - cried for about a minute, then calmly enjoyed the warm water First time to Costco First time grocery shopping with mom First time to church First playdate with his friend Cole ( click here for details and pictures) First time to Gideon's Posse with dad and his friend Asher (picture below) First time away from mom and dad - two hours with Adam and Sarah! First boat ride to watch dad ski (picture below) First walk out of the neighborhood, and it rained! First b...
