Get Your Happy On

This year the Puyallup Fair's theme is Get Your Happy On. And we did! We went with the same friends as last year, and I think this year was even more fun. We ate burgers and fries and scones and elephant ears, saw the animals, watched the kids ride rides, and loved every minute of it. We didn't get a whole group photo but I did get one of all four kids.

Krusty Pups for dinner!
In the dog barn, they had Saint Bernards pulling carts. Really. And then Haley and Tyson were too little to go by themselves, so the gentleman there offered for Jim to go with them. Jim said he didn't want to weigh down the dog and the gentlemen said that the dogs can pull up to 3000 pounds. I did not accidentally type too many zeros. Isn't that nuts?

Haley had a great time enjoying the fair for the first time, really. She ate an entire scone. She wouldn't even hand it to me to hold for her at first, and when she decided to trust me she preempted it with: "Don't eat it, Mom."

She also got to go on rides for the first time. She was so excited to go along and she was barely too short for the line... she stood below it straining saying "I tall nuff?" The woman said she could go on the canoe as long as she was right at the line, so I made the call and said she was. Haley missed the first canoe headed out but went on the next one all by herself without blinking. She doesn't look happy in the photo because she was pretty serious about the whole thing. She got off pointing to the next ride she wanted to go on. :)

JT was really brave and went on the dragon roller coaster all by himself. Gracie had wanted to go up until the very last minute (as children will do), so JT stayed and manned the front car all on his own!

Who let these crazy kids loose?
Haley's favorite: the pink carousel!
Fuzzy but love the smile.

Aren't they cute? Same picture as last year. :)

Ending tradition: elephant ears.

We're Moving!

Less than two months ago, we were leaving my parents' house in Port Orchard to go ski and Jim joked, "Hey, we could move to that house," as he pointed to the house across the street. We have joked about moving back to Port Orchard after 18 years away for quite some time, because most of our family lives there and our favorite ski lake is there. We've never been serious. Then we found out that the house was going to be for sale, but hadn't been listed yet, so it was kind of for sale by owner. So we toured the house and... we loved it. Then we found out that we could possibly sell our house for enough to make sense financially. So we made the owners of the Port Orchard house an offer and... they accepted. Then we spent a week making our house ready to sell before we left for ten days of camping. So we listed our house while we were gone and... it sold. We looked at each other and said, "Are we really moving to Port Orchard?" Because we really, really ...

Our little arrival!

We are pleased to announce the arrival of JT (John Taylor) Keene, born at 1:13 AM on Tuesday, July 15th. He was 8 pounds, 8 ounces and 21 inches long. Everyone is happy and healthy!

34 Weeks

We had our 34-week baby checkup yesterday and all is well. Five weeks to go! I spent the entire time at Banks Lake in a bikini because it was too hot for modesty. :) My sister-in-law took this picture to document Haley's "first trip" to Banks Lake. A few weeks ago I took one afternoon to do a canvas painting for Haley's room to match her cute Pottery Barn valance and bedding. In the picture, the valance is above and my painting is below. I can't wait to hang it up in her room! I ordered the crib yesterday and it should arrive next week.
